Happy Spring – Planting is just around the Corner!

Happy Spring!

This cool weather is great for our vines, and we expect a good year for our grapes. Jim and Linda recently made it down to the vineyard only to find 2 feet of snow still on the ground!

½ of the vines are pruned and ready to start growing, and best of all – NO dead vines!

2014 Planting Schedule:

We are planting on Saturday May 31, starting between 11 A.M. and Noon. This year we will be planting 320 Prairie Star, and this will fill out our vineyard (no more plantings!).  We will start in this staggered fashion so that we can give everyone a good “ in service”.  As for proper planting technique; we want to be careful to plant them correctly – as this will affect their survival long-term.

We will plan to stop for the day if we are finished or when the clock reaches 4:00 P.M. – whatever comes first!  After a long day working in the vineyard, we hope that you will join us for our get together , our annual picture-taking and obnoxious short speech (we really need to introduce our Board Members to all, and say a little about our charities).  This will all be  followed by a great dinner, very enjoyable beverages and lawn games for those so inclined. There will be a campfire and you are welcome to stay overnight (we’ll be creative in finding you a place to sleep!)

Our goal at Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard is to have fun while helping some great charities.

Please take a few moments to check out our 3 charities and our contribution amounts to them over the last 3  years, all available  on our website. Just click on the “Financial Contributions” tab to see this information.

We are indeed “Good people, having great times, helping outstanding charities” and you are the reason that we are able to do this!

So in closing, we look forward to seeing you and any others you know who share our vision on May 31st. Please call Jim, if not already personally spoken to, to let us know that you are coming and how many you will be bringing so that we can get roughly the right amount of food and drinks also so that we can give you our address for directions or answer any questions you may have.

P.S. I “lost” an email from someone offering several people for Fall picking – I’m email-challenged – so please let me know again, and I’ll get back to you asap.
