Happy Spring from the Vineyard!
Happy Spring from Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard! We have just completed the pruning of our 1650 vines. This year brought a much bigger pruning effort due to the need to convert our 1100 Marquette from low to high-cordon growth. For the 9 volunteers who helped in this effort we want to say THANK YOU! As a token of our appreciation to you, we have decided to pay it back by donating to our charities $200.00 for each volunteer – a total of $1800.00 or $600.00 to each charity. We have received receipts from each charity and they are posted in our Financial Section. Please check them out!

In the future, we hope to expand on this group of 9 to volunteers to many more, as all it takes is a desire to help us succeed and a willingness to learn about the art of grape pruning for you to make a difference. Also, as we get older we will increasingly need help with these efforts and other tasks related to work in the vineyard such as; netting in late August and Harvesting in early October. As always, we will be motivated and encouraged by your volunteer help.
The work we do in our vineyard is important and ultimately will help further the cause of our 3 charities.
Please take the time to explore what each one is involved in and make a small donation if you feel that they can make a positive impact.
- People Serving People is helped by us to improve he lives of homeless families, with children and adults returning to school and employment, and safe housing.
- Habitat For Humanity of Minnesota is helped to provide low income working families safe and affordable housing, with resultant improved community quality throughout Minnesota.
- Central Asia Institute is helped to provide education to girls in remote Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan, thus breaking the cycle of ignorance, poverty, and violence.

The world is a better place as a result of our efforts, and YOU can feel great about that. We feel that when one of us prospers, we all benefit as we are all ultimately connected in this beautiful world.
As such, our next volunteer effort will be in late August for netting. We plan do this on a Saturday and will know the exact dates roughly 2-3 weeks prior. We will post a notice and notify our volunteers as soon as we can nail down a date (we have to see or predict bird activity).
All of our volunteers are welcome to visit us anytime this Summer, we would love to see you! You can just stop by the vineyard (turn off the electric fence !) or give us a call at 763-354-0880. We are there most weekends, and would enjoy giving you a tour of the vineyard.
