Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard Non-Harvest Charity Party: Saturday, October 8
Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard, began in 2007 in Pepin, Wisconsin, has been contributing 100% of our profits from harvest sales to 3 charities since 2010. We had a killing frost on May 15 this year, and will not have a harvest. Not to be deterred from our mission, we are having a Non-Harvest Charity Party on Saturday, October 8. We invite you and your friends to this event, which will be fun and fulfilling in so many ways:
Enjoy the Fall colors on a beautiful drive down to our vineyard and farm, 3 miles from downtown Pepin, Wisconsin.
We will start about 1 pm and we will be serving hot pulled chicken sandwiches at about 4 pm. We ask all to bring something to share with this (appetizer, salad, dessert, a box of pretzels, bag of chips, anything). We will be supplying all kinds of beverages, and if everyone could bring some of their favorite beverage also, that would help us. We will have all the necessities, such as plates and condiments
Plan to have FUN, as we will have yard games and contests, with our branded wine, Altered States Apple 2015, as the prize for winners. Plan to enjoy the afternoon with people almost as nice as you, if you can believe it ! We will have a volleyball net up, so, Have Fun !
Our vineyard is right up the hill. Plan to visit it, to see what 550 Prairie Star and 1050 Marquette vines look like growing wild this year, and checkout our 50 Dwarf Honeycrisp Apple trees! An untended vineyard is a sight to see !
We hope to raise money for our 3 great charities by having a “Donation Bucket”, which will allow all of us to write out a check ( or cash donation if preferred ) to one of our 3 charities. Include your mailing address, so that the specific charity can send you the receipt, and they will forever be keeping you informed regarding their ongoing work to improve the lives of those that they serve. We will then total all contributions, and match 1:1 to each charity, thus doubling your contribution… is that great or what ? All who make any contribution, of any size, will get a bottle of our Altered States Apple 2015 wine, as our “Thank you”, also!
These are our 3 charities. We picked them after careful consideration, and have followed them closely. We know that they have and will continue to deliver on their respective missions. Check one or more our through their websites, so that you can feel great about using our event to help one of them to deliver on their mission:
- People Serving People: Minneapolis. They provide temporary shelter for homeless families, providing stability, keeping children in school, and help parents obtain job skills and employment.
- Habitat For Humanity of Minnesota: Minneapolis. They help low-income families acquire ownership in decent affordable homes, thus stabilizing their lives and their communities.
- Central Asia Institute: Bozeman, MT. They build and staff schools and adult education centers in rural Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan, educating primarily girls, thus helping to transform a culture towards tolerance, stability, and peace.
Check out one of these charities, and plan to join us for an afternoon of fun, with a goal of improving the lives of our fellow citizens of this beautiful but sometimes troubled planet. We at Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard believe that we are all ultimately connected, and when we help another, we help ourselves!
Stop by to talk to me, or call/text me for the address and directions, and any Qs. We do this so we can get a correct number for food preparation, tables, etc.
