Another successful planting for June 2013
Planting on Saturday, June 1 was a great success, in many ways. We successfully introduced 260 new Marquette vines into our vineyard, starting about 11 A.M. and finished by 1:30 P.M. It went by fast, as we were replanting vines that had died due to last years abnormal warmth followed by an April freeze. We had a delicious lunch/dinner of pulled pork and lots of sides, having many fun conversations and meeting so many wonderful new people. All of our volunteers left with a bottle of our Altered States Apple and a copy of Journey of Hope, the quarterly newsletter of Central Asia Institute. We continued our conversations into the evening around a bonfireā¦the weather was perfect.
This years crop is coming along fine, but slowly, due to the cooler than normal weather. We suspect the picking to be mid October, or a month or so later than normal this year. We will update you on this around mid August.
Our pictures and receipts for our “planting contributions” are posted, and as always, we will be doing the same within a month of our picking in October. Check it all out on our website, send us a message if you would like anything added, deleted, or changed on our picture comments, and be sure to click on one of our charities, learn about the terrific ways they make our local and international communities a better place, we encourage you to adopt one of them as your own charity of choice. In this way, we hope to spread the word and help these great charities out. This is our mission and again, we could not do this without your support.
Thanks again, we hope to see everyone in the fall, please consider inviting a like-minded friend for a fun afternoon.
