An Unfortunate Turn of Events – But a Chance at a New Beginning

What a difference a day makes! At 8:30 P.M. on May 14 I left our vineyard after a day of mowing and spraying, I noted that our Marquette and Prairie Star shoots looked great, later that evening we sat around a bonfire until around 11 P.M. knowing that it was going to be a cold spring [...]

Happy Spring from the Vineyard!

Happy Spring from Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard! We have just completed the pruning of our 1650 vines. This year brought a much bigger pruning effort due to the need to convert our 1100 Marquette from low to high-cordon growth. For the 9 volunteers who helped in this effort we want to say THANK YOU! As a [...]

A Winter Update from the Vineyard

Hello to all our volunteers! It may not seem like it, but Spring is right around the corner! It seems that each Winter up here is getting longer and colder (nothing to do with us getting older, I’m sure). We have  taken several steps to ensure that we have a large and healthy crop this [...]

It Was a Beautiful Day For a Harvest in Pepin!

It was a beautiful day in Pepin during our October 3 harvest.  This year we picked 971 pounds of our Marquette. Happy Summer to all! Our Marquette and Prairie Star grapes look good, they have reached veriason (turned from green to purple and became delicious bird food ) about 2 weeks ago, so we netted them to keep the animals away. Now they just ripen until the sugar level gets up and the acid level goes [...]

A Spring Update From the Vineyard!

We were so happy that we did not have to go through another “Planting Event” this Spring, so instead we happily donated $10.00 for every volunteer who has signed up on our website’s mailing list, or has “Liked” our Facebook page. Currently, we have 127 of you following our progress, so we were able to [...]

Time to Rest After an Exciting Year

After one exciting year, our vineyard is resting. In 2014 we suffered a COLD bud-damaging Winter, followed by lots of work all Summer long finally leading to a quantity-poor but fun-rich Harvest – we had a great time! The vineyard is now fully planted, so no planting in June this year, however you are all [...]
