Our First Annual Non-Harvest Party was a Success!
Our first annual Non-Harvest Party was both great fun and a benefit for our charities. Although the weather was not ideal, we had many games of Bocce Ball and Bean Bags (Corn Hole, according to our Chicago guests!). Herb and Dan played some of the music, while Connie sang along beautifully; they were immensely appreciated. On the menu, we had hot pulled chicken sandwiches, 20 different dips, salads, and desserts: everything was delicious!
More importantly, our 3 outstanding charities did well also, thanks to our generosity. We had contributions of:
- $473.00 for People Serving People, which we matched to a total of $946.00
- $193.33 for Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota, which we matched to a total of $386.66
- $333.33 for Central Asia Institute, which we matched to a total of $666.66
As a result of your generosity, our Minneapolis homeless families are able to achieve a better life, working lower income families are being helped to achieve safe, quality and affordable housing, while children, primarily girls in rural Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan are helped to become educated , independent, and productive members of society, breaking the cycle of ignorance and violence.
We can all be very proud of our efforts. We continue to believe that we are all connected in this beautiful world; when another does better, we become better and share in their success.
Please stay tuned to the website as we expect to post receipts from each of our charities within 2-3 weeks. We will let you know when they are posted in our Financial Section, as well as give a heads up of what we can expect in 2017.
Peace and Charity,
