An Update from Lost Creek Hippies and Spring Donations
A warm and caring hello to all! This is such a difficult time for so many of our human family, including of course each of the supporters of Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard. Our personal lives have been so dramatically altered, so that anything I might say to you sounds insufficient.
We are so sad to report that Dr Joseph Wethington, a colleague of mine in medicine for 30 years, a man of deep compassion and beauty how so positively affected so many, and supporter of Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard in plantings, harvests, and Fall Fund Raiser Parties, passed away recently. We miss him so much and his smile and warmth is recalled daily by me and so many of his family, friends, and colleagues.
This is a time for us to redouble our commitment and caring for our human family neighbors, weather they be local, national, or international. We all know personally people who are struggling financially and socially. We can and are helping them by communicating by new and strange formats, by meeting while observing social distancing, and by supporting financially those we know personally and our favorite charities. We are also all working to make the political changes that we each feel would help our neighbors survive and thrive in the future. For sure, we will get over this, and I believe that we will evolve with a collective consciousness for addressing the needs of others who need a hand in transforming their lives to a peaceful and educated and financially successful future . We will make this a better, more inclusive, and caring world, individually in our daily actions to each other, and collectively through organizations such as our 3 charities:
- People Serving People: Helping homeless families get back onto successful futures, with a strong emphasis on preschool and child education, for evidence clearly supports this a most successful .
- Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota: Helping working low income neighbors obtain affordable quality home ownership, thus stabilizing our communities throughout Minnesota .
- Central Asia Institute: Educating youth, particularly girls, in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan, thus helping to break cycles of ignorance and poverty.
Each of our adopted charities continues their efforts despite Covid-19, and re-adapting as needed to continue their great work. I honor of their great work and your past efforts to help our organization and our charities, we have made a Spring contribution to each of our 3 charities. See receipts posted in our Financial Section.
Change is constant at our former vineyard and growing Apple Orchard. All vines are gone and Apple Orchard firmly enclosed to avoid the deer eating absolutely everything.
All are heartily invited to visit… we will make sure we follow social distancing guidelines (Pepin Couny has zero Covid-19 cases and is really committed to keeping it that way). Just give me a call if you are planning to be in the area: Jim 763-354-0880.
We are tentatively planning to have our Fall Fund Raiser Party on Saturday, September 12, but only if appropriate at that time and with changes as indicated to make it work safely for all.
May each and everyone have a safe, healthy, productive, and happy summer.
Love, Peace, and Charity,
Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard
