We Hope Everyone is Having a Great Summer!

Happy Summer to all! We completed pruning of our 250 Prairie Star vines, and they look healthy. We have made a $400 donation to each charity as a Thank You to Peter, Linda, and Jim, who braved the cold in March to trim those vines. The receipts for these donations are posted in our Financial section on this website for your viewing.

We are keeping up on spraying to prevent bugs and fungus, and the rainfall has been ok so far… we expect a good crop in September, and we will let you know of a harvest date in late September or early October 1-2 weeks in advance.

Our apple orchard remains a work in progress this year, as pollination was very poor this year, and we doubt that we will have more than a few bushels. It’s hard to know at this point why that was, as last year we had a large number of apples from 5 bearing trees. We planted 15 Semi-dwarf Honeycrisp trees last Fall, and they all look healthy, but are too young to produce apples this year. We plan to add 20 more of the same type trees again this Fall.

Our main event will again be our 4th Annual Fun(d)-Raising Party on the second Saturday in September. This year that will be September 14. We will start at 1 pm, with an afternoon of appetizers and drinks, including our new 2019 Altered States Apple wine. We will again have Corn Hole and other games, followed by dinner of pulled chicken. All who make a donation to one of our 3 charities will again receive a bottle of our just bottled 2019 Altered States Apple wine, and we will again match all donations 1:1, so your donation doubles… how can you lose! We look forward to seeing all of you who have in the past helped us with planting and harvesting of our grapes and/or attended one of our previous Fall Parties. We have so enjoyed getting together in the past, and hope that you can make it this year, again, on Saturday, September 14. We will send out a reminder in mid August, but it really helps us in food planning if you give a heads up call (763-354-0880). As usual you and any friends and/or family are warmly invited! It is such a pleasure for us to see you back!

Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard is a Charitable Vineyard since 2007, supporting 3 outstanding charities:
People Serving People: helping homeless families in the Twin Cities get a stable and safe environment , and develop plans to get back on their feet and onto a successful future.
Habitat For Humanity of Minnesota: helping lower income people obtain safe and affordable housing, thus stabilizing not only their lives but also our Minnesota communities.
Central Asia Institute: helping girls and women in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan obtain an education, thus halting the cycle of ignorance, violence, and poverty in that troubled region of our world.

We at Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard believe that we are all ultimately connected in our world, and that when a family becomes productive and safe, and when a person or family lives in their own affordable housing, and when a girl becomes educated, we all benefit! It is this vision and mission that motivates us to do what we do, and we so appreciate and benefit by your continued involvement. Our shared compassion for those who need a helping hand joins us all together and makes this beautiful world a little bit better!

Peace and Charity,

Lost Creek Hippies Vineyard
